What are the Health Dangers of Refined Carbohydrates?

We hear conflicting information all the time about which foods are healthy and which are not. What’s the truth? Let’s find out!

Which protein sources are healthy?

You have to watch out for conventional dairy and meats. Why?

  • The animals are given medications
  • They are given hormones
  • They are given antibiotics
  • They are given vaccines
  • They are fed GMO-rich foods
  • They are sick all the time

If you don’t believe me, there’s a ton of documentaries you can go into. If you’re eating a sick, super toxic, hormone-imbalanced animal, what’s that going to do to you? You are going to get sick! And, it’s compounding. It’s called bio-accumulation.

Every pound of meat takes up approximately 16 pounds of food or whatever else went into that animal, especially for cows. So, there’s a monumental difference between organic grass-fed meat, which usually eat grass, and are not given all those medications versus conventional USDA beef.

So, is it worth an extra couple of dollars to be able to eat that? If it’s not, don’t eat it. Just cut it out because this is super important for you. And, what this will do, is it will actually balance out your fatty acid levels.

Organic beef and dairy is full of good fats that your body needs– good proteins, good B vitamins, good zinc, magnesium. There’s ton of great stuff when you’re getting that in there on a regular basis. Saturated fat is not bad for you if you’re getting it from the right source!

Same reasoning applies to poultry. You always want to make sure that it’s free range. Fish, you always want to make sure that it’s wild, not farmed.

Refined Carbohydrate Dangers

What we want to be able to reduce and eliminate completely are refined carbs. This is most of our processed foods. This is white bread and white rice and crackers and everything else along those lines.

You want to eliminate refined carbohydrates completely. Because what they do is destroy the hormones in your body. They spike your insulin up right away. They are full of sugar and sugar is the enemy in so many different ways.

High Glycemic Carbohydrates

The next thing you want to reduce significantly is high glycemic carbs. These are things like potatoes that become sugar really, really fast.

There’s a whole glycemic index. You can look this up. You want to reduce or eliminate these after lunch.

So, it’s better if you eat these things earlier in the morning, but as the day goes on, you’re less likely to burn off that energy. And, what is stored energy? It’s fat. So, if you’re eating these carbs and you got a bunch of stored energy, sugar will flood your bloodstream. Then, what your body does is it moves it to fat and locks that in there.

That’s the big reason you have trouble losing weight. It’s because your body is always storing more fat, it’s not burning it.

What you want to have the most of is low glycemic carbs. These are good anytime even before you go to bed. These are vegetables. Vegetables are always good for you! Especially when they are raw, vegetables have tons of nutrients that don’t really spike your insulin at all.
