Can Chiropractic Play a Role in Heart Disease Prevention?

First off…we need to recognize the significance of heart disease in our culture:

About 600,000 people die of heart disease in the United States every year. 1 in every 4 deaths.

Heart disease is the leading cause of death for both men and women.

Coronary heart disease alone costs the United States $108.9 billion each year. $108.9 BILLION per year! Can you imagine what good we can do with just a quarter of that amount?

  • Since 1984, more women than men have died each year from heart disease.
  • Heart disease is now the #1 killer of women, causing more deaths than all cancers combined.
  • Only 56 percent of American women realize that heart disease is their greatest health threat.

Those numbers are staggering! It’s critical to know the spine plays an integral role in allowing full function to the heart and vascular system.

No doctor can directly affect heart function more than a Chiropractor!

A vertebral subluxation alters blood chemistry via the hypothalamus. When a man or woman is subluxated, they have an increased release of stress hormones epinephrine and norepinephrine. These stress hormones, called catecholamines, release as a result of the “fight or flight” response. This response is a direct result of increased and sustained sympathetic nervous system tone.

It is well known that increased sympathetic tone is a major cause of cardiovascular events and disease!

The chiropractic adjustment reduces sympathetic tone by influencing the nervous system via the hypothalamus! This is why studies like the 2007 blood pressure research we talked about last week achieved such amazing results by adjusting the upper cervical spine. The adjustment was proven more effective for regulating healthy blood pressure than 2 medications combined!

The evidence is clear. The science is real. The missing element is chiropractic!

Vertebral subluxation can only be found through extensive exam and x-rays by a chiropractor trained in diagnosing and correcting subluxation.  That is why updated exams and x-rays are necessary and essential to your progress. In order to ensure your spinal health, your chiropractor must consistently check on your subluxation patterns.

The health of your heart and the rest of your body does not just depend on how you feel and your symptoms; it is determined by how we are correcting subluxation and how your body is healing.  There are so many people out there today suffering from heart disease and worse who have never been checked for subluxation and are only given medications to lower their symptoms.
