Subluxation: The Most Devastating Interference to Your Nervous System and Your Health
Vertebral subluxation creates a stress that causes an increased tone in the sympathetic nervous system. We now know that an increased sympathetic tone in the nervous system sets off a cascade of autonomic processes as if the body was being attacked. This increased tone leads to what we know to be the “fight or flight” or “stress” behavior physiology.
Here is the thing…it is a good response that helps you in the acute situation, but will kill you chronically. What I mean by that is in the short-term situation it is good; however, if it stays there long term, it will destroy the body.
This increase in sympathetic tone increases stress hormones known as catecholamines (adrenaline and noradrenaline) and decreases relaxing hormones such as serotonin and relaxin.
Like I said, this is good for a short time to help you fight or flee from a predator, but when it is sustained for a long duration it destroys. From decreased immunity and digestion to shutting down fertility, focus, attention, and energy…this state of physiology is not what any healthy human should experience for any sustained period of time.
This is just one of the many reasons we take subluxation so seriously in the office. If there is a misalignment in your spine that is interfering with the nervous system it must be found and corrected as soon as possible.
